FRISCO, Texas – The Cowboys' 2025 season is in the books, and the most important numbers to come out of it are the 7-9-1 record Dallas finished with.
That became the case after the Cowboys fell 34-17 in their final game of the year to the New York Giants on Sunday, putting their division record at 4-2 on the season.
Now, Dallas heads into one an offseason that owner/GM Jerry Jones says could have "as dramatic a difference as we have could in a long time."
Let's take a look back at some telling numbers and stats from Sunday afternoon:
2
Dallas' rookie RB duo of Jaydon Blue and Phil Mafah became the fifth pair of Cowboys rookies to score a touchdown in the same game. They joined Dak Prescott and Ezekiel Elliot in 2016 (who did it four times), DeMarco Murray and Phillip Tanner in 2011, David Adams and Alvin Blount in 1987 and Walt Garrison and Les Shy in 1966.
5
The first half looked so promising for rookie Jaydon Blue, who rushed for 77 yards on 11 carries in the first two quarters. But in the second half, Blue was stopped for a loss or no gain on all five carries, resulting in -13 yards, finishing his day with just 64 yards on 16 carries.
6
With no interceptions on Sunday, the Cowboys finished the season with only six interceptions, tying the lowest single-season output in franchise history. Ironically, back in 2016, the Cowboys had only six picks despite a 13-3 season. This year, the lack of interceptions was more telling as the Cowboys had one of the worst defenses in franchise history.
8.5
Despite playing in just 13 games, Jadeveon Clowney finished the season as the Cowboys' sack leader with 8.5. He's the first player other than Micah Parsons to lead the team in sacks since DeMarcus Lawrence (2020 with 6.5). This is the fourth time Clowney has reached 8.5 sacks in his 12-year career. But his season-high is just 9.5, which he last did in 2023 with Baltimore.
9
For the ninth time this year, the Cowboys allowed 30 or more points in a game. The 34 points allowed pushed the season average up to 30.0 points allowed, the most in franchise history.
14
Dak Prescott's personal winning streak against the Giants ends at 14 games. Even though he didn't finish the game, he was the starter and will get credit for the loss. Overall, Dak is now 14-3 lifetime against the Giants.
30
What is it about MetLife Stadium that gets Shemar James going? Whatever it is, he's played two of his best games of his career in the Meadowlands. James has 30 total tackles in two games this year, including 13 on Sunday. Earlier this year, James posted 17 tackles in a road game against the Jets, who also play home games at MetLife Stadium. Those two games are the two highest tackle totals of the season for James.
43
Since the NFL started keeping sacks as an official stat back in 1982, no Cowboys player had produced the stat line Jadeveon Clowney did on Sunday. It's been at least 43 years since a Cowboys defender produced three sacks, a forced fumble and a fumble recovery in the same game.
69
The reason KaVontae Turpin broke the Cowboys' single-season record in kickoff return yards with 1,814 is because he had way more returns than any other player in team history. With seven more on Sunday, Turpin finished the season with 69 returns, the most by any player in team history.
80
As great as the Cowboys' offense was in 2025, first-quarter starts can be improved. The Cowboys scored 10 points on Sunday in the first quarter, but for an entire season, they finished with just 80 points scored in the first quarter, the most of any quarter this year. In comparison, the Cowboys' opponents scored 132 first-quarter points.
