Updates: Guyton participating in walkthroughs

August 12

11 a.m. - There is good news on the Tyler Guyton front as the former first-round pick continues to recover from a knee injury that's held him out of practice.

Not only did Guyton dodge a season-ending injury when his leg was rolled up on several days ago, but he's been walking without his crutch for more than a week now.

And, on Tuesday following the Cowboys' preseason opener, it was revealed that Guyton is now taking on a bit more work 鈥 head coach Brian Schottenheimer revealing the fact Guyton is now participating in walkthroughs, stopping short of providing a timeline for return, though.

"The way he's attacking his rehab is unusual for a second-year player," said Schottenheimer. "And I'm proud of him."

August 11

1 p.m. - Jaydon Blue and Miles Sanders were both absent from the Cowboys' preseason opener against the Los Angeles Rams with injury.

Blue, working through a bruise in his foot/ankle, was seen walking at SoFi Stadium without the aid of a boot he initially wore following the injury occurring, however, and that's a sign of progress.

Sanders, sidelined by a knee injury, has been sidelined the last several practices in Oxnard 鈥 adding to the current injury woes at running back 鈥 but head coach Brian Schottenheimer sounds optimistic about both heading into the preseason matchup against the Ravens at AT&T Stadium.

"I think they're both gonna start doing something this week," he said on Monday. "We'll have a lighter day today ... so that buys guys who are coming off of bumps and bruises time to get healthy. I think we should see some significant progress with both those guys this week. We'll see but, hopefully, they can both play in the game."

August 9

Rivaldo Fairweather

8:12 p.m. - One of the last guys to leave the locker room on Saturday was rookie tight end Rivaldo Fairweather, who was rather busy trying to respond to a few text messages. To be expected, his phone was blowing up after not only playing in his first game, but catching the first touchdown of the game in the fourth quarter.

"I used to dream of being in the NFL and in my first game, I catch a touchdown, it's just all God right there," said Fairweather, who said the touchdown was just on aspect of what he calls a productive day. "Yeah, definitely I feel like I had a very successful game. My blocking, my hand-placement technique and run game and also special teams is big in the NFL. I'm just grateful for the opportunity."

Fairweather, an undrafted free agent from Auburn, led the team in receptions with three, totaling 18 yards and the 7-yard touchdown. He played the majority of the game with the Cowboys banged up at tight end, playing without Jake Ferguson, Brevyn Spann-Ford and Princeton Fant.

-------------

8:02 p.m. - The Cowboys have already lost some of their depth on the offensive in camp and near the end of Saturday's game, they took another hit.

Veteran guard Saahdiq Charles suffered a knee injury that kept him out for the remainder of the day.

"I'm hopeful that we dodged a bullet with Saahdiq," Brian Schottenheimer said following the game. "We'll do some more tests."

Charles, who has 18 career starts in the NFL, has been working mostly at guard but has position flex to play tackle.

He is expected to undergo further tests over the weekend to see the severity of the injury and how much time, if any, he will miss as the Cowboys enter the final week of training camp.

Earlier this week, veteran Rob Jones was placed on season-ending IR with a neck injury.

August 8

2:12 p.m. 鈥 A good sign during Friday's walk-through practice was the return of Jake Ferguson, who suffered a back injury on Thursday. Not that Ferguson is going to play against the Rams on Saturday, but he had the game in mind when he decided to practice.

"One of my focuses coming out here and being able to practice today was to take some of those reps off (the younger guys) so they got a little fresh legs for (Saturday)."

Ferguson left practice after taking a hard hit to the back. He said he experienced spasms and pain throughout his back later that day but the test showed no structural damage.

Ferguson was able to get some reps in Friday, knowing he'll be a bystander for Saturday and letting other tight ends such as Luke Schoonmaker, Princeton Fant, John Stephens, Tyler Neville and Rivaldo Fairweather take most of the snaps.

-------------

2 p.m. -- Injuries at the position will likely result in rookie running back Phil Mafah seeing a ton of playing time in the Cowboys' season opener against the LA Rams on Saturday at SoFi Stadium.

He spoke on what it means to him to lace up for the first time in an NFL game, and what his goal is going into the contest.

"You know, just being able to gain experience, first and foremost," Mafah said. "The speed of NFL games is different than any other level. So just being able to show the team I can protect the quarterback and run the ball, and do everything effectively.

"I want to be a three-down back, and I just want to prove, out there, and also just continue to grow and learn, so that I could continue to stack days. That's been my mentality all camp: just stack days and let God do the rest."

1:30 p.m. -- A year ago, CeeDee Lamb held out of training camp in Oxnard as he went about negotiating his new contract extension with the Cowboys. Now, his teammate Micah Parsons is going through the same negotiations, but isn't holding out, and instead requested a trade last week.

"I feel like he's going to be here," Lamb said when asked about his reaction to Parsons' trade request. "Reaction was crazy. I'm a little disappointed [in the process], but I mean, it is what it is when you've got to get what you've got to get. You got to do what you've got to do, and you've got to do what's best for him, and that's fine."

For Lamb, missing training camp "wasn't pleasurable at all," and admitted that it took him some time to ramp up last season when he returned. Lamb and the Cowboys are hoping that if an extension is signed with Parsons, that won't be the case with him.

-------------

12:15 p.m. -- After injuries have piled up in running back room in recent days, the Cowboys turned to a familiar face on Friday by bringing RB Malik Davis back to the team.

Davis, 26, joined the Cowboys as an undrafted free agent following the 2022 NFL Draft and has only suited up for the Cowboys in his NFL career. Davis spent the 2023 and 2024 seasons on the team's practice squad and was waived in April.

The Cowboys open their preseason against the Rams tomorrow, and Davis could very well see playing time and snaps at some point in the game. The corresponding move to bring Davis back was the team placing OL Rob Jones on season-ending injured reserve after he suffered a neck injury earlier in training camp.

-------------

August 7

2 p.m. -- It was another physical practice for the Cowboys on Thursday, two days after their scrimmage against the Rams and two days prior to the preseason opener against the same club. As such, there were some bumps and bruises, and both Pro Bowl tight end Jake Ferguson and rookie running back Jaydon Blue exited practice early to be evaluated by the team's medical staff.

Blue was initially carted to the tent after he was taken down on a rep, but he then walked to the locker room under his own power before returning in a t-shirt and shorts to peek at a few more practice reps. He's now in a walking boot, but news is that the injury isn't considered major 鈥 the rookie nursing a bruise in his foot/ankle.

Ferguson went down on a red zone drill and stayed down for several moments before walking around under his own power, in good spirits, and staying on the sideline for a while; and both will be evaluated further, though there's positive signs. Ferguson is dealing with a minor back issue that will require some treatment, but he is not expected to miss much practice time.

-------------

August 6

1 p.m. -- Things can always change in an instant in the NFL, but Joe Milton has apparently dodged that reality in training camp.

Milton went from tossing a 60-plus yard bomb for a touchdown to wideout Jalen Brooks to being removed from the scrimmage against the Los Angeles Rams after hitting his thumb on a helmet while throwing.

The scare was short-lived, however, as Milton was back on the field for the team's walkthrough on Wednesday.

Brian Schottenheimer says the Cowboys are not concerned, and Milton is on track to play in the preseason opener against the Rams at SoFi Stadium on Saturday.

-------------

August 5

3 p.m. -- It was unfortunately a short stay for Parris Campbell in a Cowboys' uniform.

Signed to a one-year deal this offseason to compete in training camp for a possible roster spot, the veteran wideout suffered an injury in late July that saw him helped off of the practice field, not to return.

He was eventually moved to injured reserve to begin the month of August and, days later, was waived with an injury settlement.

Being placed on IR in training camp meant Campbell would not have taken the field for the Cowboys in 2025, an issue exacerbated by the fact he isn't under contract for 2026.

-------------

11:30 a.m. -- There's good and bad news for the Cowboys as they get padded practice underway on Saturday.

On one hand, they'll be glad to know All-Pro left guard Tyler Smith won't miss any time after leaving the previous practice in soreness/tendinitis in his knee. Given the injury to Rob Jones and Tyler Guyton, with Matt Waletzko now waived/injured as well, the offensive line can ill-afford more bad news 鈥 even with the signing of La'el Collins and Geron Christian.

On the other hand, however, the running backs room is beginning to feel the sting of an injury bug as Miles Sanders is expected to miss a "couple days or so", per Brian Schottenheimer, with a knee issue.

Deuce Vaughn is currently nursing a hamstring injury and the absence of Sanders shifts opportunities to rookies Jaydon Blue and Phil Mafah, alongside JaVonte Williams.

-------------

August 2

10:10 a.m. -- On Saturday morning, the Cowboys officially brought back OT La'el Collins, who has already played 74 career games for Dallas.

Collins wasn't the only offensive lineman the Cowboys signed on Saturday, as the team added another tackle Geron Christian, who is heading into his eighth NFL season. Christian has played in Washington, Houston, Cleveland, Kansas City and with the Los Angeles Rams over the course of his career.

The corresponding moves the Cowboys made in order to make room for Collins and Christian were moving WR Parris Campbell to season-ending injured reserve, and waiving OT Matt Waletzko with an injury settlement.

**La’el Watch**

Veteran La’el Collins, who has played 74 career games with the Cowboys with three different stints, is expected to work out on Friday. The Cowboys are without left tackle Tyler Guyton for at least another 4-5 weeks with a knee injury.
Collins, who joined the team in 2015, started 71 games in Dallas at both guard and tackle.

Dak Prescott said he was excited when he saw Collins on Thursday, just a day before the workout, mentioning they have remained friends and "went fishing this offseason."

Collins hasn’t played in an NFL game since 2022, but has had a couple of stints with the Cowboys on the practice squad later in the season.

This offseason, Collins made at least two trips to The Star in Frisco, attending the retirement press conferences for both Zack Martin and Tyron Smith, where he told media members of his desires to return to football again. **– Nick Eatman**

2:44 p.m. 鈥 The Cowboys are looking at a familiar face 鈥 yet again 鈥 to help fix the offensive line issues.

Asim Richards_7_30

11:30 a.m. -- The loss of Tyler Guyton was thankfully not nearly as bad as it might've been for him and the Cowboys, and his 4-6 week timeline to return from his knee injury could amount to only "a couple weeks", per head coach Brian Schottenheimer.

That will depend upon how Guyton attacks his rehab and his his knee responds but, in the meantime, Schottenheimer has to figure out who'll get the nod at LT1 in that absence of his former first-round pick.

The first opportunity will to go former fifth-round pick Asim Richards and former seventh-round pick Nate Thomas, both having flashed in this year's training camp with the second team.

"You'll Asim Richards over there some, you'll see Hakeem [Adeniji] over there some 鈥 we're all about creating competition," said Schottenheimer. "But Asim and Nate, those two guys will get the first couple cracks at it."

-------------

July 29

1:30 p.m. -- With the injury to cornerback Caelen Carson, expected to miss 4-6 weeks with a hyperextended knee, the Cowboys signed cornerback Christian Matthew.

Currently sitting at the max number of players (90), a corresponding move was required to get Matthew on the roster.

To that end, the Cowboys have waived wide receiver Kelvin Harmon.

Harmon joined the Cowboys last July before spending the 2024 season on the team's practice squad, eventually signing a futures deal in January.

-------------

July 29

6:30 a.m. -- After a successful workout following Monday's padded practice, the Cowboys signed cornerback Christian Matthew to add some more depth at the position.

Matthew, 28, has spent time with the Arizona Cardinals, Chicago Bears and most recently the Baltimore Ravens practice squad. Matthew saw the most action in his rookie season with the Cardinals, where he played in 14 games starting three, tallying 19 tackles and three pass deflections. In 2023, Cowboys defensive coordinator Matt Eberflus was the head coach of the Bears and spent time with Matthew.

Injuries at the cornerback position have stretched back to the 2024 and have continued at camp, with Juanyeh Thomas and Andrew Booth missing practice yesterday. Matthew comes to Dallas to give the Cowboys another healthy body at the position and an opportunity to slide up the depth chart if he performs well.

July 28

3:45 p.m. - DaRon Bland was absent the last several practices, but for the best possible reason.

The All-Pro cornerback welcomed a new addition to his family, a newborn son, over the past several days, and was all smiles as he returned to the practice field for the second padded practice.

He took to the microphone after practice to express his joy and added motivation.

"It's more motivation after bringing a new life here," he said. "It's a boost to show him what I'm about, and to be a good role model."

July 27

11:30 a.m. - The Cowboys won't see offensive lineman Robert Jones on the field for some time to come.

The veteran completed the first padded practice at 2025 training camp, including doing some post-practice work with rookie first-round pick Tyler Booker, but he later discovered a broken bone in his neck was suffered at some point on Sunday.

His prognosis is two or three months on the injured reserve list, but head coach Brian Schottenheimer is thankful the injury wasn't what it could've been.

"You hurt for Rob," said the Cowboys' head coach. "... You hate to see it. But he's a talented young player that'll bounce back and be better than new when he gets back. ... We're lucky it wasn't worse."

11:28 a.m. -- During Sunday's first padded practice, Cowboys tight end Brevyn Spann-Ford was helped off the field by the team's training staff favoring his leg. On Monday morning, Brian Schottenheimer confirmed the injury and his timetable for return.

"He has an ankle, looks like he's going to be a couple weeks. Nothing that we're overly concerned about." Schottenheimer said.

With Spann-Ford sidelined, it allows more opportunities for Luke Schoonmaker and John Stephens Jr., who has battled his fair share of injuries himself, to get some more reps with the starters.

-------------

July 26

2:18 p.m. - On the same day the tight end room got some big news with the four-year extension for Jake Ferguson, some of the depth took an immediate hit with another injury.

Brevyn Spann-Ford, who had been having a productive camp so far, went down Sunday with an ankle injury that could keep him out for multiple weeks.

The nature of the injury is still being evaluated as of Sunday night, but the Cowboys are preparing for him to miss some time, opening the door for a host of other young tight ends including John Stephens, Tyler Neville, Princeton Fant and Rivaldo Fairweather.

Spann-Ford, a second-year pro who played in all 17 games last year as an undrafted rookie, had one of the highlight catches of camp when he ended Friday's practice with a leaping touchdown grab, drawing praise from his offensive and defensive teammates.

-------------

11:45 p.m. -- The latest big-money contract has officially landed for and by the 草莓视频下载入口.

Jake Ferguson signed a four-year extension worth upwards of $52 million that secures him through the 2029 season, and one of the most excited to hear the news is none other than offensive playcaller and head coach Brian Schottenheimer.

Schottenheimer had nothing but praise for what Ferguson brings and will continue to bring for the offense.

"Everything he's done, you know, last year, obviously, he didn't have the best year, but I think it just shows you we're always evaluating everything," said Schottenheimer. "And the things he's done for us, from a play temperament, the enforcer that he is 鈥 he loves football, he's got that throwback-type mentality. I'm just really, really excited for him, and anytime you get a chance to, you know, get a guy done, which there's a number of guys that we're working to get done, you're excited for him."

-------------

2 p.m. -- The solid start to training camp for Parris Campbell may have taken a turn on Saturday.

The speedy veteran wide receiver made a couple of plays during practice before he ultimately went to the ground with an apparent leg or ankle injury, and was subsequently helped off of the field by several personnel before also being comforted by quarterback Dak Prescott.

Campbell signed a one-year deal to join the Cowboys this offseason with hopes of helping them stabilize depth at the position.

It is unknown at this time what the injury might be, as the team runs test to determine his prognosis.

July 25

12:15 p.m. -- Cowboys left tackle Tyler Guyton has admitted that his rookie season last year was disappointing for him. He's used that frustration to help power him through the offseason, putting an emphasis on getting his body physically right and preparing for a better year two. That effort hasn't gone unnoticed, and Dak Prescott is seeing the progression in his blindside protector.

"That disappointment, he's channeled it all into motivation, and that's his fuel of getting better," Prescott said. "I think you saw glimpses of it in the offseason to now as we're getting into this training camp, it's continuing to grow and I think you're only going to see it more when we get these pads on and he can really be a lineman again."

The reps Guyton is getting in Oxnard are crucial, as he missed some time in his rookie season due to injuries and illness that hurt his development. Now, he's getting a lot more of the work that he's missed out on, which is sure to aid in his development.

-------------

July 24

2 p.m. - As the third practice of the first week of Cowboys' training camp got underway, it did so with three players absent for varying reasons.

Terence Steele, the team's starting right tackle, is having his right ankle evaluated and was held out as a precaution until more information is gathered. Also absent was cornerback DaRon Bland and linebacker Kenneth Murray, but for a much different reason.

Both Bland and Murray are expecting the birth of a child imminently.

For Steele, who is now long removed from the torn ACL suffered in 2022, the mission is to return to prime form to help a newly-rebuilt and very young Cowboys' offensive line regain traction for the start of the Brian Schottenheimer era.

-------------

July 23

11:42 a.m. - There are still many miles on the road ahead as DeMarvion Overshown works his way back from a torn ACL suffered in 2024 鈥 an injury that derailed one of the most promising seasons for a linebackers in Cowboys' history.

That said, Overshown has already made significant progress in his journey, and is in great spirits as he continues the work while also finding ways to get mental reps from the sidelines.

One such way is, as head coach Brian Schottenheimer detailed, to glue himself to defensive coordinator Matt Eberflus; and that means putting on a headset as well.

"Stud," said Schottenheimer of Overshown. "Attack is the right word. He's attacked [his rehab] from the beginning. He pushes everybody he's training with. What's really cool is you're gonna see him spending more time with 'Flus. Can't practice, but can still learn ... including radioing some of the plays in."

-------------

July 22

1:42 p.m. - In one of the more unusual media sessions in recent years, Trevon Diggs answered a few questions, although many of them were directed towards Micah Parsons, who was also standing next to him.

Both of them are two of the biggest storylines of camp - and neither of them are practicing with the team.

Diggs said he was surprised the Cowboys decided to exercise the contract clause that would take $500,000 from his base salary for his decision not to rehab at the Cowboys' facility this offseason.

"That hurt my feelings a little bit," said Diggs, who is rehabbing a knee injury that landed him on the PUP list. "They do a great job here. I just felt it was in my best interest to go somewhere else and get the full undivided attention that I needed. Make sure I'm good and ahead of schedule and I can perform."

-------------

10:30 a.m. -- Before the Cowboys kicked off their first practice of training camp in Oxnard, the team announced some roster changes.

The Cowboys signed DE James Houston, who recently was part of a workout with the Cowboys alongside some other pass rushers, and made the corresponding move of releasing LB Luiji Vilain.

Houston, 26, was drafted in the sixth round by the Detroit Lions out of Jackson State in 2022, where he posted eight sacks in his rookie season over the course of just seven games.

-------------

10 a.m. - Micah Parsons could potentially be reunited with a former collegiate teammate in Dallas at some point in training camp or beyond.

The team held a workout for four free agent pass rushers ahead of their first practice in Oxnard, and that included with linebacker Jesse Luketa, formerly of Penn State. Luketa was Third-Team All-Big Ten in 2021 before going on to become a seventh round pick of the Arizona Cardinals in 2022.

Along with Luketa were workouts held for three defensive ends: Kameron Cline, James Houston and William Bradley-King.

The latter is a former late-round pick of the Washington Commanders out of Baylor, hoping to return home to North Texas this season, while Houston used his teachings from Deion Sanders at Jackson State to become a sixth-round pick of the Lions in 2022. It's clear the Cowboys are seeking young pass rushers to try and solidify the depth chart at that position behind Parsons and Co.

-------------

July 21

11 a.m. - As the Cowboys get things underway at their 2025 training camp in Oxnard, several players will have to wait before taking the practice field.

Trevon Diggs continues to work his way back from a cartilage issue that required season-ending surgery to repair and, as such, will join DeMarvion Overshown in starting this year's camp on the PUP (Physically Unable to Perform) list with an eye on suiting up at some point this season following a torn ACL.

Josh Butler will join them with that designation as he recovers from a torn ACL suffered in December, and he and Diggs aren't the only two cornerbacks that aren't medically cleared yet.

Shavon Revel, the team's rookie third-round pick, needs more time as he aims at returning from a torn ACL that occurred during September of his final season at East Carolina 鈥 designated to NFI (Non-Football Injury) list on Monday.

-------------

July 19

1:00 p.m. -- Cowboys linebacker DeMarvion Overshown is still on the mend from his ACL, MCL and PCL injury that he suffered back in December. Ever since, Overshown has been working diligently to get back onto the field and seems to have received good news on his recovery process.

"Good news from the Doc! We getting active THIS szn." Overshown said in a post on Instagram.

Overshown's goal has always been to return at some point this season, it's just been a matter of when. For now, Overshown, who is already in Oxnard ahead of the team's arrival at training camp on Sunday, will continue to go through his rehab process with the Cowboys recovery staff.
